RE: 5th Wheel Shore Power?

We leave ours plugged in all the time also. It does use some power as we leave the fans on all the time and run the AC and heat on low just to keep a constant temp inside. No problems yet in 2 years.

RE: Traveling to cold area this week, no tank protection

We just experimented with the same thing last weekend. The temps during the day were mid 40's and 15-17 at night. We filled the fresh water tank 2/3 full, shut off the CG water and drained the hose. We used the water pump for the bathroom and handwashing at night with no problems. In the morning when the temps got to above 32, I reconnected the hose, ran water through it to flush out any ice on the ground and hooked back up. No problems. We don't have heated tanks but the underside of out unit is enclosed.

RE: Waste engineering

My issue would be different from yours. Mine would be that a toilet drains into the galley tank. That's what I would change. I want ALL my toilets going into the black tank. In a pinch, grey water can be drained onto the ground but not black. You can always flush longer if you want to add extra liquid to the black tank. If you have solids going into two tanks, you have to worry about them building up in TWO tanks.

RE: Advice on black water problem

I have the same problem with my 2006 Designer. Like you, I just figured a small piece of paper or something has gotten into the valve and lets it leak. Figured I'll have the dealer check it in the spring before my warrantee expires in April. I just make sure I use the tank washer and get everything out before storing after trips and put plenty of clean water in the tank. Let me know if you find anything else.

RE: Slide question

I had a friend that had the same thing. The double pole switch had evidently shorted when he brought the slide in. When he pushed the toggle to put it out, it still tried to bring it in. That's why he had the clicking noise of the slip clutch. A $15.00 switch fixed it right up. Crank it out a few inches and see if it moves either way. If it comes back in when you try to put it out, the switch could be shorted.

RE: Fuel Shortage

A friend in Atlanta said she had a problem with gas a week or so ago but has not mentioned it since then. Something to do with a federal regulation with emission reducing fuels in large metropolitan areas she said.
We stayed at Pine Mountain campground last summer and it was ok. The roads are gravel and most of the sites are also. They do have some paved sites. We will be back there in a few weeks again. It was nice and quiet.

RE: Helper springs and weight increase?

I put a set of SuperSprings on my 2500 and while it did not change the ratings, it does help with the ride and especially the bounce on bridge transitions and poorly maintained roads.

RE: gatlinburg/ pigeon forge

We stayed at Pine Mountain RV Resort last week and it was great. As was said, it is new and they are still working on it but it is clean and convenient to pretty much everything. The sites are pretty large and we will stay there again.

RE: Jayco Designer : How's the Desk? 36 RLTS or 34 RLQS

We have the 36 RLTS and I think everyone is getting confused between the desk and the table. The desk is small and would be cramped to work at for long. I would say that a laptop at best would be comfortable not a 20" desktop. We have a small wine frig on ours. The table on the other hand is big enough to do whatever you want. We have the table with chairs and as was said, the table has a leaf that pulls out.
We have the gen set, king bed and the washer/dryer and wouldn't be without any of them.

RE: 2nd AC Help

Chip, I too live in Alabama, Montgomery to be exact and have a Jayco with a second AC in the bedroom. The one in the bedroom has it's own thermostat in the bedroom and the ducts from the main one are still connected also. We have never had a cooling problem except to get it too cold with running both.

RE: Turning radius how much better than a 23 TT.

There is merit to both sides.
Yes a TT will react quicker to turning commands than a 5ver but you are limited to a turning radius restricted by the trailer tongue against the bumper. While my 5ver reacts slower than my bumper trailer, I can jackknife the 5ver into a much shorter turn without hitting my cab.
I live on a dead end street on a hill. My driveway is angled down the hill toward the main street. I have to back it in past 90 degrees, back downhill while missing the powerpole, mailbox and storm drain. My 5ver is 39'6". I could never get a bumper pull trailer that long in that spot.

RE: Savannah GA campground recommendations? any?

We stayed at Savannah Oaks for a week in July and they do have some paved sites. We had one. It is ok and staff is nice. It was clean and 15 minutes from downtown. I had two complaints and they were small,
1. The cable wasn't very good, ok but not great and,
2. There are speed bumps on the highway right outside the CG that make a loud sound when people pass anywhere close. We just left the fan running on our AC all the time and soon forgot about it.
The good things were the WIFI was the best we have had in a long time, plenty of room for our big rig, our dogs were welcome, it was clean, and other than the speed breakers the CG was quiet. We'd stay again.

RE: unhitching problems

Always back up slightly with the trailer brakes held on to take the pressure off the jaws. They are designed to lock into place with pressure on them to prevent loosing the trailer.
